A Job as an Auto Truck or Diesel Technician/Mechanic
Back in 1987 when I started my first job for pay as a mechanic, the industry was working hard to elevate the status of a mechanic by referring to us as technicians. While I do feel the elevation of the auto repair, truck repair, and diesel repair industry continually needs to be held in a brighter light of professionalism, being referred to as a technician or mechanic makes no difference to me. In fact, there are other trades that mechanic or mechanical is referred to without question to degree of skill needed. Mechanical engineering is not referred to as technical engineering in many universities. Instead of trying to use words to redefine our trade, lets instead let our actions, our conduct, and the way we carry ourselves inside our work, at home with our families, and out in our communities define us.
